Along with Garage Sales and Flea Markets, Minnesotans love their
thrift shops, and there are plenty to visit in the Metro area. Whether
you're seeking barely-used designer clothing, household items and
furniture, or items to sell on eBay, there are tons of spots to shop. I
haven't been to them all, but here's a list, and I'll make whatever
comments I can on the ones I know well.
Metro Wide
Goodwill
Stores -- Click the link to view all their locations. The granddaddy
of all thrift shops, Goodwill thrives in the Twin Cities Metro. In most
of the stores, the stock changes daily. If you're looking for something
special, stop by often. These stores also often have brand new
merchandise from Target, at terrific prices.
Salvation
Army -- Click the link to see all their locations. Salvation Army
thrift stores are also a good bet, whatever you're looking for.
Occasionally, something really special shows up, and that can happen
anytime. Comparable prices with Goodwill.
Savers Thrift
Stores -- Click the link to find locations. Big stores. Lots of
clothing, plus miscellaneous household items, and more. Clean. Pricing
within reason.
Consignment
and Thrift Shop links at Citysearch -- Check this list out for 168
shops in the greater Metro.
East Metro
Animal Ark Thrift Store
-- 809 E. Seventh St., Saint Paul, 651-772-8983. Lots of stuff, but the
ladies who run the shop seem to want to keep it all. Prices often exceed
reasonable levels. Not for the eBay seller.
Marty Second Hand Store -- 935 University Ave. W., Saint Paul,
651-647-1771.
Practical Goods -- 1559 Randolph Ave, Saint Paul, 651-690-1122
St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store -- 461 Seventh St. W., Saint Paul,
651-227-1332. A little dingy, but full of stuff. An older store.
West Metro
I'm not as familiar with the thrift shops in the West Metro. If you
know of a great one, click the Email
Me! link and let me know.
